It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed up to Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the last half-century.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in training, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you completely engage with the contest."

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from there the right-hander was underway.

"The possibility to play and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

Once she was removed the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the confidence to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament should hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory following victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

However although she later admitted those physical issues have delayed plans to retire, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as leader.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
